Edwards Estate & Elder Law is thrilled to announce we have launched the Edwards Estate & Elder Law Charitable Fund, Inc. The Fund’s purpose is to raise funds to award grants to other 501(c)(3) charities that provide services or support to one or more of the following populations: elderly persons; persons with disabilities; veterans of the U.S. armed forces; clergy; first responders; teachers; teens and young adults.

The Funds first fundraiser is happening on Friday, September 18, 2026: “Ashes to Ocean”, an ashes release event on the Canyon Eagle III boat at the Perth Amboy Marina. The Fund will provide grants raised by this event to PLAN/NJ (disability services), Empower Somerset (Veteran trauma and addiction services), and Sage Eldercare (services and programming for the elderly). Ticket sales will be available soon, for a minimum donation of $100, with groups of 3 or more to discuss the donation so as not to deter a family that may consist of children or multiple members. We are flying an artist and musician, Sergio Gutierrez, from San Diego to perform on the boat and do commissioned portraits with a unique style – adding some ashes to the paint as the purchaser requests. Dinner is catered finger-foods and soft drinks. There will be no alcohol served, BYO is permitted, but no coolers.

The event is on Friday, September 18, beginning at 4 p.m., boat leaves the dock at 5 p.m.-ish, crosses the Raritan Bay, past Sandy Hook and 3 miles offshore for the ashes release, and returns to the dock approximately 9:30 p.m. A pastor or two will be on board, and participants will be welcome to share stories of their loved ones throughout the cruise.

Sergio will perform café-style music by acoustic guitar on the boat.
